A ‘WAP’ End To Unemployment

As per the eMarketer estimates, in India alone, around 638.4 million people use mobile phones out of whom only 167.9 million use a Smartphone, meaning about one-fourth of our population still relying on feature phones for their needs. The reasons may vary, but the stats are self-explanatory.

Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is minimalist text based website which gets loaded only on the feature phones having web browsers as compared to the extravagant, highly loaded Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) sites. Such a site doesn’t require a super-fast connection plans’ expenses to get loaded on featured phones.

Aasaanjobs has released WAP job search website, available at lite.aasaanjobs.com, to ensure that no one is left behind as far as looking effectively for job opportunities are concerned. Aasaanjobs’ WAP website is less than 0.625% in size as compared to the normal website, where a candidates can create basic profiles and view available job opportunities. The main site of the firm consumes 1.4 MB data usage in total, whereas the WAP site consumes just 5.6 KB of it.
